LYRIC
Hot sun poured down on Leroy selling cold drinks in the park
The band played
He saw a vision
It was time to make his mark
On the poor side of Denver, a taxicab was hard to find
Leroy, he said, “I can fix that”
He left that stadium behind
If you need a taxi, you won’t have to wait around all day
When you get that taxi, you won’t have to pay and pay
Cuz’ Leroy’s comin’ your way
Before Leroy could start his taxi, it had to clear City Hall
He didn’t know his application was about to hit a brick wall
The big taxi companies owned the only cabs in town
They sent their lawyers ‘n’ lobbied hard
‘Til City Hall turned Leroy down
If you need a taxi, you will have to wait around all day
If you ever get a taxi, you’re gunna have to pay and pay
Cuz Leroy won’t be comin’ your way
The people cried, “That isn’t fair!
We want Leroy’s taxi cab
Cuz he’s ready with a taxi
And we’re waiting for a ride
Let him drive!”
Politicians felt the pressure
Leroy should’na been denied
They had to let in competition
Folks could finally get a ride
Now Leroy has built his dream
Freedom is his taxi’s name
Getting ’round Denver town will never be the same
If you need a taxi, you won’t have to wait around all day
When you get that taxi, you won’t have to pay and pay
Cuz’ Leroy’s comin’ your way
